The West Africa Photography Awards is designed to celebrate photographers across West Africa Sub Region, including veteran photographers who have contributed to the growth and development of the photography industry. We have also designed a number of developmental programs that will bring positive changes to the profession of photography and we believe our efforts will promote the unique West African practice of the art to the world.

Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, The Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

WAPHA 2020 INTRO
  • The West African Photography Awards is a special event for recognizing and encouraging skilled and outstanding photographers across the West African sub region.
  • It is about pulling together our best and emerging hands in the profession to showcase their works and celebrate their creativity with class, glitz and glamour.
  • WAPHA is established and fully represented in Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’Ivoire, Togo, Mali, Senegal, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Benin Republic, Cape Verde and Liberia.
  • WAPHA is an initiative of a Nigerian company, Fullhouse Entertainment Ltd in partnership with Women in Photography Association of Nigeria (WIPAN).
WAPHA 2020 OBJECTIVES

West Africa Photography Awards aims to achieve the following:
  • Bridge the technology gap between the old and new generation photographers.
  • Create a database for all photographers in West Africa and getting same across to the whole of Africa.
  • Inspire fresh and genuine talents into the profession.
  • Unite photographers across West Africa and extending same to other Africa countries.
  • Catalyze the growth and relevance of the profession in West Africa.
  • Train aspiring students in the art of photography from the elementary level right to the higher institution of learning.

WAPHA 2020 OVERVIEW
  • The awards gala holds in APRIL 2020 in Nigeria with major events across West African Countries.
  • There shall be series of innovative ideas developed to increase public awareness about the project and consequently the profession.
  • The activities will emphasize our vision to develop the photography business in West Africa.
  • This event intends to go big on media exposure, especially digital marketing and live transmission across West African Countries.
  • We plan to tell a clear story of the awards’ process and by extension offer more visibility to our sponsors.
EVENT OUTLINE 
These events form part of the value chain for our partners and sponsors to leverage in achieving their objectives.
  1. Novelty Match between the photography and entertainment industry whereby creating more synergy in the art and entertainment world.
  2. Photography Workshop featuring world class photographers from different parts of the world holds for a period of two days. They will be refreshing their skills and knowledge of new technology and global practice.
  3. Seminar/Conference with the THEME #LENS ACROSS BORDERS
  4. Photo walk in host city with key players/professionals in the industry alongside other volunteers.
  5. Photography Exhibition featuring carefully selected works of outstanding photographers from all West African Countries, representing different areas of photography shall be held.
  6. Video Content – The activities will be packaged into short episodes of video content suitable for web and TV across the sub-region.
  7. The Award Gala Night – An evening of glitz and glamour celebrating the evolution of photography in the digital age.

The organizers' primary aim is to connect with the public and draw the widest audience. It is our goal to make sure the series of events get a huge amount of attention as possible.

Nigeria photography Awards (NIPHA) is our success stories, which was endorsed and sponsored by Lufthansa Airline, Federal Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Lagos State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Lagos State Professional Photographers Association of Nigeria (LASPPAN). The events were successful and attracted over 1, 700 guests from within and outside Nigeria.
